How To Add More Movement
Move more - this is a phrase we have likely heard time and time again. In a time where It is so easy to sit back, relax and scroll through your phone, instantly watch a movie or TV show, or sit in front of a desk all day, it’s easy to see why we don’t move as much as we should.
Here are three ways you can add a little more movement to your day, without making it feel like work.
10 Minute AM Stroll
Many of us have now switched into a work from home role, that being said, commuting less automatically = less walking. Take 10 minutes before you start your day and take a walk around your neighborhood. It’s an easy way to get outside, spend more time in nature and increase your step count without straining yourself.
Set A Timer
I don’t know about you, but I am the type of person that once I am working or focused on something, good luck trying to get me away from it. This is why setting a timer of my phone or computer helps me to take mini breaks. I use the time to stretch, walk around the house, do a few jumping jacks and squats, anything to help get the blood flowing. Try setting a timer to go off every hour and take 5 minutes to do some form of movement.
Take A Lunch
Take your lunch break and be productive. Think about it, when you’re working in an office, you most likely take some form of a lunch, whether it is to grab food or a coffee, or just have a change of scenery. Whatever your new work/life set up is, be sure to take your lunch and add some movement. Take a walk, do a workout video or bring your lunch somewhere outdoors. It is the little changes that make all the difference to your day.
So now will you add more movement to your day? Remember to incorporate little habits that can help your meet your end goal, don’t worry about getting 10,000 steps a day, work towards it. Little, healthy habits are what make a difference over all.
