Firstly, we don't like the word resolution it implies you need to resolve yourself, and to us you are wonderful. However, are there goals we would love to achieve this year? Of course! Goals can be little habits you incorporate to make your day a little brighter, or a goal can be long-term that you work on all year. Either way, here are some of our favourite New Years Goals we are excited to implement in 2021.
H2O Drinking water has about a zillion health benefits and no negatives, but how come it is hard to get the recommended 8 glasses a day? If you are like us and tend to favour other beverages (hi, coffee!) this is a great goal for you to try out. Quick Tip: Try having a glass of water before your morning coffee and all meals - right there you are at 4 cups!
Steps We all know getting 10,000 steps a day isn't the easiest goal, especially if you have been working from home. This year, try aiming for 10,000 steps a day, once you start getting into the routine, you may wonder why it took so long to get on board! If you are someone who is driven by numbers, invest in a FitBit or Apple Watch for step counting and tracking.
Digital Detox Wake up, check phone. Eating, check phone. Commuting, check phone. Quick work break, check phone. It's easy to see that many of us are attached to our smart devices. A great goal is to implement one day a week with no devices. We understand that people need to get a hold of you, but unless it's a super important text or call, try and put your phone away for an entire day (we like Sundays). if an entire day is a little drastic, start with one-hour before bed with no devices and work your way up from there.
In a world with UberEats and DoorDash, it can be tempting to order food to your door with a click of a button, but this year try and shake things up. Choose one night a week to cook a new recipe. This is a great way to explore new flavours and options you would have never tried, search Pinterest for tons of healthy recipes!
If 2020 has taught us anything, is that we have a lot to be grateful for. This year, we are going to make a conscious effort to show and practice gratitude each and every day. Some ideas can be, writing a daily gratitude list, specifically thanking people, sending thank-you notes in the mail, or a quick thank-you text to loved ones.
What are your goals for 2021?
