The official day of love is less than a week away, have you thought about what to get your loved one? We think on holidays like this, gifts from the heart are much more meaningful. We have rounded up some of our favourite homemade ideas and gifts to celebrate Valentine's Day. The best part? You don't need a significant other to celebrate! Whether you are celebrating with family, friends or yourself, these ideas are going to make your day extra special.
Treat Bar This is such a fun idea for any age - a treat bar! Not only is it delicious, but it is a lot of fun to do as well. Pick out a treat of choice, cookies and cupcakes work best, and have a bunch of different toppings and icing to decorate! This is a fun activity to spend time together, but you also get some yummy treats at the end too, win-win!
Memory Board How many times have you sworn you are going to print out those photos on your phone? We are guessing a lot. Now you have a great reason to actually do it, with a memory board. Similar to a vision board, but with fun photos and memories. With a little prep work, you will have some great art and memories all in one. Find a large enough frame to hold all of your memories, a sheet of poster board, and printed photographs you want to display. If you want to go a step further, purchase cardstock as well. When you have all your items, cut the poster board to fit in the frame, cut and place photos in a collage, and if you are using cardstock write memories and notes to place alongside the photos. It's a meaningful way to connect, reminisce and create something together.
Now, before you roll your eyes, we aren't talking about the pre-made gift baskets filled with stuff no one likes, these gift baskets take some thought and creativity! We love creating gift baskets for a special someone with a theme, some ideas: movie night in, all of your faves, date night and pamper yourself. These are some ideas of how to make them:
Movie Night In - Bring the movies to you! Candies, chocolate, popcorn, a coupon for 'one movie of choice' (yes that means they get to choose, and you have to deal!) If you want to take it a step further, add in some cozy socks or matching pajamas too!? All Your Faves - These are a few of their favorite things... Gather the receiver's favorite candies, chocolate, wine, or beverage, a gift card to their go-to restaurant or coffee shop. If you want to add a little something extra, try finding a piece of memorabilia from a movie, TV show, or sports team they like, for example, a Dunder Mifflin mug is a funny add-on for any fan of The Office. Date Night - Plan a date night from home! Create a basket with ingredients for their favorite homemade meal, a bottle of wine, candles, a print out of the music for the evening (Spotify or Apple Music has some great ones!), and an invitation that lists the menu and dress code! If you aren't much for cooking, include details of the menu and where you will be ordering from. Pampering - This is relaxation in a basket! Candles, bath salts, body lotion, essential oils, cozy socks, eye mask, and tea are all great gifts to create a spa-like experience at home.
